Tigers on the Loose
The Maywood Tiger cross country team started their season off with a journey through the wilderness of Cambridge on September 5th. The participants included Senior: BreAnna Kahler, sophomores: Tucker Hartley and Gage Seiler, and freshman: Payton Kahler. Tucker ran his way to 17th place to be the fastest at the meet followed by Gage in 35th place. BreAnna finished in 31st place being the fastest girl followed by Payton in 36th.
“This was a good start to our season. For the first race for BreAnna and Payton, I thought they did a good job of working through the distance and doing their best. They have never run cross country before so it was, and will continue to be, a learning experience for them. The boys ran well as Tucker took two minutes off of his time from a year ago. He ran aggressively and almost medaled. Gage ran almost two minutes faster too, and I was impressed with his finishing kick. As all of the Maywood runners get more miles and strength-work done, their performances will improve. It will be fun to work with them and watch how they do.”-Coach Williams
